Current Equipment.
I would currently class my photography role as somewhere between 'photographer' and 'professional'. I've had some small paid assignments where the clients have been very pleased with the results, but I have yet to take the enormous leap towards being a full-time photographer. However, I'm very interested in getting more commissions, and in selling my work.
I have been involved in photography since about 2000, first using small Fujifilm digital compact cameras, and now using a Canon EOS20D. I firmly believe in building up my skills through the cameras - and it's only once I start feeling limited by the camera that I upgrade and move on to the next one. With the DSLR, this has changed slightly, as some of it is also down to the lenses I have and use - although that also means that there's one hell of a lot more learning to be done.
I'm extraordinarily pleased with the DSLR, and think it's a fantastic camera. I'll probably now only upgrade again when I absolutely need to - although the next step would be into the big-league cameras, looking at most likely a full-frame sensor, and/or a 'pro' camera such as the EOS1D
So far, the cameras used in this development have been :
- Fuji 4700 digital compact
- Fuji F601 digital compact
- Fuji S5000 digital 'bridge'
My current camera is a Canon EOS20D digital SLR with the following gear
- Canon 18-55mm EF-S lens
- Sigma 55-200mm lens
- Canon 100mm f2.8 lens
- Canon 100mm Macro lens
- Canon Speedlite 580Ex flash
In addition, I always carry a small Panasonic Lumix TZ-1 for everyday use, particularly when the SLR is just too bulky or awkward to carry on a daily basis.
