About Me.
I've been taking photos regularly (some would say obsessively) since 2000 on an amateur basis, although I've also managed to do a small amount of paid photography work, which has been very satisfying, and something I hope to do more of. When I started, I was initially based around Greater Manchester, then Bracknell in Berkshire, and now near the Norfolk town of Attleborough.
I don't know quite why I've ended up preferring taking flower photos, but they're something I love to photograph. I also find that I derive a lot of pleasure from taking landscape photos, as well as images - particularly long-exposure shots - of flowing water can be beautiful, while providing some degree of technical challenge for getting the right exposure and 'feel' for the shot.
Finally, I love taking animal photos - particularly of our own idiotic (but very photogenic) Border Collie, Saffron
Inspirations
While I've only been taking photos since 2000, I've been interested in photography for as long as I remember. I've always loved the landscape photos by Ansel Adams and some of the work by Andreas Gürsky. More recently, I've been inspired by the work of landscape photographers like Joe Cornish and Charlie Waite, as well as the portrait and news work of Dan Chung.
Future Plans
When all's said and done, there's no way that I'm going to stop taking photos. In the future, it will either remain as something I do on an enthusiast level, or it will accelerate to a point where I can do some commercial work. Regardless, I'll be happy. I would like to make some money from this - who wouldn't? - but if I don't, or if it stays at a level where I get some paid work but it's primarily my leisure activity, that's fine.
The purpose of this site fits in with both eventualities. It displays my work to a larger audience, and will probably be slowly promoted by myself in that context, to get the images I've taken out into the world a bit more. If paid work results from that then great, I'll be happy with that. If it doesn't, then OK, I'll still maintain Ozbonography for the future. It's a section of my photography - and like I said, there's no way I'm going to stop taking photographs!
Currently, I'm working on expanding my portfolio in directions that interest me, and have recently started on a couple of longer-term projects in order to build up some themed sets of photos.
